Frequently Asked Questions

All Puffin Travel Insurance policies are underwritten by AXA — one of the world’s largest and most financially secure insurance groups. AXA is fully regulated and globally recognised, which means the financial backing behind every Puffin claim is robust and reliable.

On single trip policies, coverage runs up to 93 days depending on your age. On annual multi-trip policies, each individual trip is capped by tier: 21 days on Bronze, 32 days on Silver and Gold, and 45 days on Platinum. If any of your planned trips exceeds your tier’s limit, you need to either upgrade your tier or buy a separate single trip policy for that specific journey.

Annual multi-trip policies cover customers aged 18 to 80. Single trip policies cover customers from 18 to 84. Both upper limits are generous compared to many mainstream providers who cut off at 70 or 75, particularly for annual cover.

Over 200 activities are covered as standard across all Puffin plans — considerably more than most comparable insurers. This includes hiking, cycling, snorkelling, horse riding, sailing, and many water sports. Genuinely high-risk activities such as paragliding, bungee jumping, and skydiving require a separate adventure activity add-on at additional cost.

Yes. Winter sports cover is available as an optional add-on to any Puffin policy, whether you are buying single trip or annual multi-trip. It covers ski equipment, medical expenses from skiing or snowboarding accidents, and piste closures due to poor weather. It is not included in any base policy, so always add it before you travel to the slopes.

Yes — but only conditions that are fully declared at the point of purchase. Based on your medical screening, Puffin will either cover the condition at standard premium, apply an additional charge, or in some cases exclude that specific condition from the policy. Never omit a condition when declaring. Undisclosed conditions can result in claims being rejected at the worst possible moment.

Claims can be submitted online through the Puffin website or by calling the claims team directly. You will need your policy number, a clear description of what happened, and any relevant documentation — medical reports, receipts, police reports, or booking confirmations. Starting the process promptly after an incident generally results in a smoother experience.

Yes. Family policies cover up to two adults and up to ten children — which is considerably more generous than most providers who typically cap it at four or five children. Both single trip and annual multi-trip family policies are available across all four tiers.
